What is Social and Community Participation?
Social and Community Participation is a category of support provided under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in Australia. It is designed to assist NDIS participants in engaging with their community, participating in social activities, and developing essential social skills.
The aim is to enhance their overall well-being, independence, and quality of life by fostering meaningful connections with others and being actively involved in community life.
The Social and Community Participation funding aims to enable NDIS participants to be active members of their communities, promoting inclusion, social interaction, and a sense of belonging.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) includes two broad categories of supports in a participant’s plan: CORE supports and CAPACITY BUILDING supports.

Participants work with their NDIS planner to identify the specific activities and services that align with their interests and goals.
