Development Of Life Skills

We acknowledge that a person’s skill set is crucial to their sense of identity. Hence, at Sunrise2Sunrise, we prioritise fostering existing skills and developing new skills to allow our participants to enjoy the opportunities available to them.
Sunrise2Sunrise will work with participants to best utilise their skills to accomplish meaningful goals and health outcomes. We will help develop new skills to enhance our participant’s quality of life by opening opportunities for them to become more independent and contribute to family life at home. Improving skills creates a sense of pride and belonging in their communities.
We enhance existing skills by motivating participants to design routines that allow their particular skillset to be used regularly. New skills are introduced to accommodate participants’ long-term goals and wants/needs. Sunrise2Sunrise uses a social support model in which the support worker facilitates participants to experiment and improve skills via participation in all aspects of life.
Sunrise2Sunrise has a multidisciplinary team who documents and tracks the achievement of participants’ goals as guided by the National Disability Insurance Agency. A dedicated management team works with our participants, support workers and stakeholders to determine best practices in developing and introducing new skills.
